Project: Your Environment
On a sheet of drawing paper make a picture of your environment (surroundings). Draw everything in your environment and color it neatly. Make sure it is neat and accurate. :)
When you have finished your drawing, take a picture of it and send it to me.
Then in the OW box type out a list of all the things in your environment (surroundings). Include natural things and people-made things; people and animals; pleasant and unpleasant things.
Finally write a few sentences describing your environment (your surroundings). :)
Example: There are two trees in the yard. On tree is very big and one is very small. There are several green bushes, rose bushes, and some yellow flowers. Sometimes there are deer, squirrels, and moles in the yard. I can hear birds chirping, dogs barking, people talking, and children laughing.
**Remember this project is worth 100 points. To earn full credit make sure you complete each part of the assignment fully and accurately. :)

Project: Populations
How many populations, both plant and animal, can you find in your environment?
Make two columns on a sheet of paper. Label one "Plant Population." Label the other "Animal Population."
Then look around your environment (surroundings). List as many things as you can see (or have seen in the last week). Are you surprised to see how many different populations there are around you?
Type the two lists in the OW box and submit it to be graded.

Project: Terrarium or Diorama
Make a diorama showing one of the communities you have studied.A diorama is more than a flat drawing. View the link below for a description and some examples to help you get started. First you will have to decide on which ecosystem you want to use for your project. "Some options to consider are rain forest, coral reefs, grasslands, deserts, tundra, ocean, rocky shore, grassland / prairie, pond, woodlands, swamp. These are only a few examples, you may decide to do a different ecosystem."

The giant sequoia trees in California and the geysers in Yellowstone National Park are special treasures that are preserved for people to enjoy. The Everglades National Park in Florida is an unusual and interesting part of your environment. In every part of your country, natural wonders are being preserved to be enjoyed by everyone.
