Project: Rules for a Classroom Discussion-
Carefully read through Section 1 to learn about classroom discussions. Even though we are not able to do this in our school, it is good to learn how to communicate in a group so when you do things with others in a group you will know what is best.
Complete the assignment in Section 2 by carefully typing in the OW essay box. Number your paper 1 to 5. Write in complete sentences being sure to check your spelling and use of punctuation.
Remember to use the OW spellcheck (circled arrows in the upper right hand corner) to help your proofread your paper before submitting it.

Project: Presentation of Knowledge and Ideas-
For this project students will need to engage in a discussion with some of their family members to practice.
First click HERE to view the video, The Tortoise and the Hare.
Then return to the OW project lesson and carefully read through the lesson and follow the directions there. Carefully do each thing that you are directed to do. The discussion will need to be with family members instead of classmates. :)

Project: McCoy Today
Have you ever heard of the "real McCoy"? If something is genuine or real, people say that it is the "real McCoy." Some people think that the saying started with Elijah. As the story goes, Elijah's invention was much better than the other inventions. When people would get an oil valve, they would ask, "Is this the real McCoy?" This might be where that saying came from.
Elijah McCoy lived to invent many other things and received fifty-seven patents for different machines. One of them was a lawn sprinkler. He encouraged young people to try really hard. He also wanted them to use their imaginations. "If you do this," he was quoted as saying, "you can accomplish anything.
Write the story of Elijah McCoy as it could happen today. Write about him and an invention he might come up for today's needs. Write about how people would want the "Real McCoy." After you have your first draft, work at making your sentences more interesting by using adjectives and words that describe. Use a dictionary, thesaurus, or spell check if necessary. Are your sentences complete? Proofread and revise the draft as necessary. Your completed story should be at least two or three paragraphs long. :) (Make sure your write the story in paragraphs.)
** I am looking forward to reading your story! :)
