Project: Book Report-Animal Stories
Charlotte's Web
From the OW Project page-
Fiction is literature (stories) created in the imagination. A fiction author makes a story up by pretending and then writing about what he or she pretends. Fiction stories are often based on people, places are things that are real. If a fiction story is believable it makes you feel a part of the story and it can teach you as much about life as a true story.
From the OW Project page-
Pets and other animals are the main characters in some books. Some of the books are fiction, and the animals can do many things that people do, such as talk, wear clothes, and so on. Other books are nonfiction, telling about real animals who do unusual things.
Over the next few weeks you are going to read the fictional story, Charlotte's Web, for part of your language arts lessons. You will be required to read a few chapters of this book every other day. On the days in between you will complete one OW language arts lesson. Then the next day you will complete a Charlotte's Web lesson, and so on. You will switch back and forth each day while reading through the book. I have included a schedule below for you to carefully follow.
During your language arts time you will be required to follow the schedule as it is listed below. On Reading Days you will read the number of chapters in the book as listed in the schedule instead of doing a regular OW lesson. You may read it to yourself, read aloud to a parent, or take turns reading with a parent. If you have a school laptop and use the online version of the book, you may use the MacBook speech feature. (Highlight the text you want to read, hold down the option key and press the +/= key.) The computer can read to you while you follow along with the text. If you follow along in the text, you will want to be sure to record the time on your Reading Log too. :)
Each scheduled day after you complete the reading portion of the book, you will also have a Charlotte's Web Activity Worksheet to complete. You will compile these worksheets into a booklet. When you finish reading the book and have your booklet completed and put together, we will use Skype to go through it so you can share your work with me. :)
Remember to follow this SCHEDULE to receive full credit. Do NOT work ahead or SKIP over anything. Every other day you will read part of the book and work on your Charlotte's Web Activity Book. Each day in between you will complete ONE new OW lesson. For some students each day you will be required to read the book while also completing a new OW assignments. Check with your teacher for specific directions.
