Project:
Learning a New Language
Read about Pedro. Then think about this. If you were to meet a friend who had this problem, you could help him in several ways. One way you could help him would be to make pictures of things, write the words under the pictures, and then show the pictures to the friend. You could then say the word under each picture to help him learn the word.
Directions:
Draw pictures of things you think Pedro would need to know. Print the name under each picture.
Choose at least FOUR things Pedro might need to know right away. Draw a picture of each one and label each one. Take a picture of your drawings. Send the picture to me using the file option on the lesson page. Always type a note letting me know you have uploaded the file. :)
You may also send it over Skype if you cannot get it to load to the page. :) Make sure to put a note in the essay box to let me know where to find it. :)

Project:
Writing Paragraphs
Carefully read and study Sections 1, 2, and 3. Then follow the directions for writing a paragraph. Choose one of the listed topics in Section 3:
Sentence 2: Detail sentences
Sentence 3: Detail sentences (You can add one or two more detail sentences)
Sentence 4: Concluding sentence
Then proofread your paragraph by reading it aloud. Does it say what you wanted it to say? Do you have a topic sentence? Do you have sentences that follow that stick to the topic by providing details about your topic? Finally "it is time to wrap up your paragraph with a concluding sentence. This should summarize in one sentence what you wrote. Remind the reader what your main idea is. One way to do this is to rewrite your topic sentence using different words."

- Edit/Revise: When you are finished writing your paragraph (rough draft), read the paragraph you wrote. Does it say exactly what you meant to say? Does it sound right or do you need to change something? Is every first word of a sentence capitalized? Is there a period or question mark after each sentence? Are the words all spelled correctly? Correct all the mistakes.
- Final draft: Rewrite the paragraph with all of the corrections and revisions, and you will have written a well-developed paragraph.
