PROJECT: MAKING YOUR OWN DICTIONARY
From the OW page:
Pretend you were climbing in the mountains. You found a lost city named Papla. The Papla people had disappeared thousands of years ago. You hunted around and found an old bottle with a piece of paper inside it. The paper had words written in the language of the Papla people.
The Papla words are listed below for you. Make a dictionary using these words. Write a meaning for each word. (You do not need to include the pronunciation like regular dictionaries do however.)
Be sure to put your words in alphabetical order. Include a picture for two of the words. Also include a title on your dictionary page.
snizzletook biggle
pockly jopped
gording reedledown
anox wamper
REMEMBER:
Proofread before submitting.
Are my words in A-B-C order?
Did I spell them correctly?
Did I make up a meaning for each word in the list?
Did I illustrate at least two of them?
Did I remember to include a title for my dictionary page?
If you answered yes to all of these questions, you are ready to submit your work! :)
Add your saved file to the OW Project page to be graded. :)

PROJECT: WRITING A STORY ABOUT PETS
Objectives
Write a story about your pet or a pet you wish to have. Discuss with a parent or sibling the kinds of pets you have. Answer the following questions to help you write a story you will give orally either over Skype with your teacher, or that you will record and send to your teacher.
Questions to help you write your story:
1. What is your pet's name?
2. What does your pet look like?
3. How did you get your pet?
4. What do you like best about your pet?
5. What do you do with your pet?
7. Does your pet do anything interesting, nice, or funny?
8. Who feeds your pet?
9. What do you have to do to take good care of your pet?
Type your story (paragraph) in a Word document. Begin with a topic sentence that tells the reader what the story will be about. Use capital letters and periods correctly. Make sure your sentences make sense. Remember reading aloud is always helpful when proofreading. *Add a title.* Save your work with your name and the name of the project. (Example: Haley_W_Pet_Story) Upload the file to the OW project page. Turn in the assignment to be graded.
- Construct a strong PARAGRAPH (ONE) using capitalization and punctuation rules.
- Relate personal experiences, and those of classmates, to writing.
- Recite personal writing effectively.

Special Project:
Book Report -- Folktales (14)
Book Report -- Folktales (14)
Directions:
One of the oldest and most enjoyed type of stories is the folk tale, a broad category of fiction stories often featuring heroes, wild adventures, magical places, talking animals or plants, and other-life characters. Most folk tales have no known author because they have been around for centuries and have spread around the world. As a result, many versions of a single story exist. (Did you know that there are at least ten versions of "Cinderella"?) There are many different types of folktales, as well. This book report project will give you an opportunity to view one folktale that you are probably very familiar with. :)
You are going to view two versions of the video Goldilocks and the Three Bears. After reading through the directions here in the next few sentences, you will find the link for the videos at the bottom of the page. While viewing each video look for differences in the story that are new to the way you have heard it told. **Write down these differences in the OW box. For example there may be a different beginning than what you have heard before. If so, write those details. :) There may be different things in the story about the characters, or what they did or said, than the version you have heard told before.
OW BOX DIRECTIONS:
**Record at least four details of differences from what you have read in the past or from the two videos in the OW box.**
(Remember to click on the spell check feature to help you proofread.)
FILE BOX DIRECTIONS:
After viewing the videos and typing your observations in the OW essay box, **color a picture of your favorite part of one of the versions of the story. Include at least **TWO** sentences at the bottom of your paper explaining the scene in your picture.
Remember this project is worth **100 points so do it well to receive full credit. :)
**NOTE: PLEASE JUST VIEW THE VIDEOS I AM providing the links to. DO NOT CLICK ON ANYTHING ELSE THAT MIGHT POP UP on THE PAGE OR BOTHER READING ANY COMMENTS. :) I DO NOT HAVE CONTROL OF WHAT MIGHT BE ON THE PAGE FROM DAY TO DAY. :)
VIDEO LINKS:
Click HERE and then HERE to watch two different versions of the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. You can see how these two versions differ as well.
