Read and study the examples to help you understand more.
Remember a useful way to learn the principal parts is to say:
...for the present "Today I. . . .",
...for the present participle "Right now I am. . .",
...for the past "Yesterday I . . . "
...and for the past participle "In the past I have . . ."
*Present perfect tense = has or have + past participle (third principal part) (has run/have jumped)
*The past perfect tense is formed by using the auxiliary had with the third principal part of the verb. (had stalled/had fallen)
*Past perfect = had + past participle
*Future perfect = will have or shall have + past participle.
Example answers: (You may use these in the OW box to show you understand.)
1 The cat has run past the mouse for the last time.
The people have jumped on the trampoline for twenty minutes.
2 The cars had stalled after running out of fuel.
Denise had fallen asleep before I arrived home.
3 The families will dance at the wedding.
The teacher will read to the class.
