Project: Book Report - Nonfiction
Objectives
Carefully read through all the provided text in the three sections of this project before you begin.
View the list of book choices in Section 2. Use the Ask for help box to let me know which book you plan to read. Include the name of the book and the author to make sure it will work for this assignment.
Once the book is approved you may begin reading. Each day you need to use the ask for help note to let me know which pages you have read that day. This will be part of your grade so make sure you do this each day. :)
Continue completing one new assignment each day in the unit as you work on this project so you do not fall behind on due dates. So you will complete a new Language Arts 500 assignment each day and you will also read for 30 minutes each day in your book. :)
Once the book is completed you will write your report and make your video presentation.
Enjoy!! I am looking forward to seeing your completed project. :)

Project: Descriptive Narrative - Read through this.
Carefully follow the directions in the OW lesson. An overview is included below to help you to remember all the things you need to do and submit for your grade.
In Section 2 there are three things for you to complete.
First you will visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art's website for students. "Within this website you will take the Time Machine to see which artifacts the curators chose to tell the story of that era. Notice how different the objects are. You will see jewelry, sculptures and much more."
Next you will complete a brainstorming activity where you will type out a list of at least ten objects that could tell your story. Save this to submit with your final project.
Then complete the Artifact Organizer. All these things will help you prepare for the three paragraph paper you will write in Section 3.
In Section 3 follow the writing process for a descriptive narrative.
Use the information on your organizer to write the rough draft of your narrative. As you write your rough draft, think about and include the things listed on the OW page. Read through them all.
Finish writing your rough draft, and then move onto the revising and editing steps. Your paper should include just three paragraphs, no more and no less.
Submit the following:
Brainstorming List
Artifact Organizer
Rough Draft of three paragraphs
Final Draft of three paragraphs
Sample:
What story does a (artifact), (artifact), and (artifact) tell about my life? In my life (artifact one) is special because....
The next thing that has special meaning in my life is .... Continue on with the artifact two story.
Artifact three is also important because it shows.... Continue with the story about the third one you chose. Then end the third paragraph with a summary sentence about yourself and the three things you chose to write about.

Special Project:
Write on the following Story Topic:
"The most exciting thing I ever heard about..."
or you might begin with,
"The most exciting thing I have ever seen was when..."
Before you begin please read through all of the directions in OW and on this page.
Read through the entire OW page.
THEN carefully write a descriptive story with three paragraphs. You need to have a beginning (first paragraph), middle (second paragraph), and end (third paragraph). Write your narrative and then type it in a Word document. After that, practice reading through it a few times making any needed changes. Finally make a video of yourself reading your story. Vary how loud and fast you speak to make your story more interesting. Make sure your vocal expression is appropriate to the story. If you have a school laptop you can use Photo Booth to record yourself reading your story. You may instead use your parent's cell as most will record videos.
Submit your video clip to me over Skype or you may send through filepigeon.com.
Write on the following Story Topic:

(Write a story using this beginning.)

***Use good writing skills and formulate your sentences into a well organized paragraph(s). Remember to use capitals and periods correctly. Be sure your sentences make sense and tell your story well.***
