How Do I Proofread My Paper?
Begin by reading your paper aloud. Listen to how it sounds.
Do you need to make changes to make it read better?
Do you need to break up run-on sentences.
Do you need to combine sentences to vary the lengths in your paper? Did you begin each sentence with a capital letter and end with the correct punctuation?
Did you spell each word correctly?
Did you use good word choices?
Do your sentences all stay on topic?
Did you provide details about the topic by writing about it and not getting off on something else?
Did you end your paper with a summary sentence?
Remember when you write a paragraph indent the first line with five spaces. Then write the sentences together with just one space between them. Add a punctuation mark at the end of each sentence and then one space before beginning a new sentence. Remember do not just list sentences.
Whew! Proofreading is WORK but it makes for great writing and easy reading! :)

Project:
Insects
Carefully follow the directions on the OW page. I will not count words. Instead just make sure you include the suggested information. :) Always use your best writing and proofread your work before submitting. :)
Project:
Endangered Species
Choose one of the endangered animals from the list on the OW page. Research and learn about the animal you choose.
Write a report and include at least five interesting facts. Make sure to include one thing that is being done to help save this particular animal. :) Proofread your paper with a parent before turning in to the teacher. :)
Then draw and color a picture of the animal and upload it to the OW file at the bottom of the OW page.
Project :
Reptiles
Click HERE to watch the BraniPOP jr. video, Classifying Animals. You will need your Language Arts notebook to write down some notes. As you view the video, write several reptile facts from the video in your notebook. You may watch it more than once if you need to review and learn more.
Once you have several notes about reptiles, write a paragraph showing what you learned. Remember to begin with a topic sentence that tells the reader what the paragraph will be about. Each sentence that follows needs to be a fact about reptiles. The last sentence should summarize the facts about reptiles.
If you choose to you may type in the OW assignment box but remember to use the spellcheck before submitting (click on the arrows at the top right hand corner of the typing box). Then make changes if needed. Remember to also proofread with a parent before submitting.
Happy learning!!
